BHS Courses – The Progressive Riding Test Course

The BHS Progressive Riding Tests (PRT) is a popular course option for clients at Trent Park Equestrian Centre.

The Progressive Riding Test Course (PRT) is a British Horse Society (BHS) run scheme for anyone wanting to improve and enhance their riding and horse care skills. It is also a recognised BHS qualification and enables those who wish to pursue their stage 2 to do so once they have passed their PRT. This is because the PRT is the equivalent of a stage 1 BHS qualification.

The Progressive  Riding Test Course (PRT) is popular among Approve Riding Centres such as Trent Park as it gives you a solid base of knowledge and skills in which to build upon. It is also ideal for those who wish to begin a career in the equine world or are considering purchasing their own horse or pony.

The course covers all aspects of horse care including grooming, handling, horse health, shoeing and equine behaviour. The course also covers riding on the flat with and without stirrups.

The course has six individual tests with equitation and stable management subsections, which can be taken separately. On passing each test Trent Park will issue that candidate with a certificate. Once the client has completed all six tests the BHS will send over their official final certificate.

Trent Park BHS Registered Instructors will examine each candidate on the tests from 1-6 over the course.
